About Paul Cooper and Local-iQ

Paul Cooper is all about growing businesses, spending the last few decades in Sales and Business Development roles. He has led and developed teams to deliver growth to UK (and European) SME’s through helping them to connect with, and be found by, prospective customers.

Paul is no stranger to change. Within the Newsquest Media group, Paul has had to repeatedly go through the process of understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each business culture, so that he can leverage the biggest opportunities, often needing to persuade others that a new, and different, path needed to be followed.

Paul came from a background in Newsquest of traditional print and advertising sales, and moved into Digital Marketing as a ‘doer’ well over a decade ago, before rising up the ranks to create and lead business units at the cutting edge of marketing technology. He became the National Director of Local-IQ.

Through all of this change, Paul has both witnessed and been an integral part of a seismic shift happening within the print and advertising business, where a whole sector has literally had to re-invent itself.

“Local trust. National scale.” is the tagline of Local-IQ, a part of the Newsquest Media Group, whose local brands deliver trusted news and information via print and web. Local-IQ use digital marketing to connect businesses with this huge audience in bespoke ways, using their tech and expertise.

Want a Kickstart?

The Kickstart is a 6-month paid job with a local employer scheme and is funded by the Government. It provides a fully funded opportunity for businesses to provide employment to 16-24 years old, who are claiming Universal Credit, and are at risk of long-term unemployment.

Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership are delighted to announce that it has been selected to be a local Representative for the new Governments Kickstart programme supporting business in the Swindon and Wiltshire area.

This is an innovative new scheme to help young people into work and spur Britain’s economic revival. The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create new 6-month job placements for young people age 16 to 24 who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

This is part of the government’s Plan for Jobs and aims to create hundreds and thousands of new, fully funded jobs across England, Scotland, and Wales. The first placements are likely to be available from November.

Funding for each job placement will cover:

  • 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week
  • the associated employer National Insurance contributions
  • employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions

Become a digital leader in your business

Leadership in the Digital Age (LIDA) is a FREE programme of 1-day masterclasses and mentoring, designed to help businesses make the most of new technologies.
